NCA Awards Press Release

As a member of the Niagara Construction Association Public Relations Committee the Construction News and Report Group prepared the following release for the NCA:

NCA honours members at first annual awards gala

For Immediate Release
February 25th, 2009

It was an evening to remember as the Niagara Construction Association (NCA) hosted its first annual awards gala to recognize outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the Niagara construction industry.

The festivities were held at Club Roma on February 20th. Members were treated to a delicious meal, and entertainment throughout the evening included a magician during dinner, and a DJ after the presentations.

Before the awards were handed out, outgoing NCA president Stephen Coote was given the opportunity to address the membership, as was incoming president Tara Christensen, who is a third generation NCA president and the first female to occupy that position.

Also introduced was the 2009 board of directors.

Following the introductions and speeches of the incoming and outgoing presidents, it was time to hand out the awards. The recipients were:

Project of the Year: Charter Building Group, for their Table Rock project.
Industry Leadership Award: John Warren, King Contractors of Niagara Ltd.
Outstanding Contribution to the NCA “Ed Christensen” Award: Joseph M. Gottli, B.Sc., M.B.A., LL.B., C.S.

“Tonight’s awards gala is a vivid reminder of the ongoing progress and change we’ve made over the past few years,” Karin Sheldrick, general manager of the NCA, said in her speech. “Success is not a destination, but a journey. And I hope we’ll make that journey together, with all the enthusiasm, commitment, and vision that have brought us this far. Whatever the future brings, I hope we’ll be able to go on sharing successes for many years to come.”

This wildly successful evening was a great opportunity for the membership to get together and talk about how they are working together to improve the industry in Niagara, and recognize their fellows who have taken significant steps to make that happen. The NCA is looking forward to next year, when they can honour another group of outstanding members.
