Publishers Viewpoint GTA Construction Report

I just got back from a trip to Barrie and had the privilege to meet with Lisa Bertram the Vice-President and General Manager for Bertram Construction & Design. Lisa is a third Generation member of the Bertram Construction & Design family who has made an in-kin donation to Gilda’s Club of Barrie for the construction of their club house in Barrie as part of the "Open the Red Door" in our community project.

This project will see two associations in Barrie, both the Greater Barrie Home Builders and Barrie Construction Associations working closely together to complete this project with community support. Lisa has started the process of receiving in-king tenders on the initial phase of the project which is just for the shell of the project and the response so far has been great. I look forward to travelling back to Barrie for the official ground breaking ceremony of the project on April 15th, 2009.

Even though the Construction News and Report Group can not offer concrete or other products to help the project along, I have donated advertising space in the GTA Construction Report starting in May to help recognize all the companies who will be making donations and offering support of this project. I will also coordinate news coverage as the building progresses to help showcase the great work that two associations can do.

A quick recap of the rest of month shows a busy schedule, I will be at the IAPA Health & Safety Canada Trade Show April 20th and 21st, and from there I travel up to Blue Mountain in Collingwood for the OGCA’s 6th Annual Symposium April 23 -25th. This year we are Platinum Sponsors of the event and have worked hard this past year to increase our coverage of the event and association. After that I will be heading to Waterloo the first week of May for the Skills Ontario Career Exploration Showcase this year on May 4th and 5th. This is our first year being involved with Skills Ontario as a Silver sponsor.

Hard to believe we are now four months into the year!
